Da Vinci Health Medical Lab runs a well-equipped medical laboratory within Da Vinci Health that provides a wide range of medical lab tests for inpatients and outpatients both internally and to numerous small private clinics and general practices. Da Vinci Health Medical Lab is committed to provide a high quality, cost effective, responsive, comprehensive laboratory and pathology services, which meet the needs of our clients. Most biochemical test results are completed and dispatched by email/post/personal collection to the patient and/or his/her doctor within 24 hours.

Haematology:
The haematology section of Da Vinci medical lab offers a wide range of basic and complex investigations including:

  • Full blood counts
  • ESR
  • Bone marrow tests
  • Coagulation screens and monitoring of patients on treatment
  • Vitamin assays
  • Blood film investigation to aid the diagnosis of aneamias and other blood related conditions (such as leukaemias)
  • Haemoglobinopathies

Biochemistry:
The biochemistry section of Da Vinci medical lab offers all basic and most of the complex investigations required for most diagnostic work-ups including amongst others:

  • Renal Profile: Urea, Electrolytes and Creatinine
  • Lipid Profile: Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL and LDL
  • Liver function tests: Bilirubin, GGT, AST, ALT, Alk Phos, Proteins & Albumin
  • Diabetes Profile: Fasting / Random Blood Glucose, HbA1C,
  • Heart/ Muscle Profile: Myoglobin, CPK, CK-MB, Troponin, HBDH, AST
  • Bone Profile: Calcium, Alkaline Phosphatase, Albumin, Vitamin D3
  • Urinalysis and Microscopy
  • Tumour Markers: Free Beta HCG, Alpha Feto-Protein, CA125, CA 15.3, CA19.9, CEA, tPSA

Sexually Transmitted Disease:
Some of the blood tests performed to detect sexually transmitted disease include:

  • HIV
  • Syphilis , VDRL, TPHA
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
  • Hepatitis Screening
  • Herpes Simplex
  • HCV antibodies

Hormones:
The following hormone profiles are performed at Da Vinci medical lab:

  • Thyroid Profile: TSH, FT3, FT4,
  • Female Hormone Profile: FSH, LH, Estradiol, Progesterone, Prolactin, Testosterone,
  • Male Hormone Profile: FSH, LH, Testosterone, Prolactin

Cytology / Histology:
These are tests that examine cell/tissue structure in order to diagnose malignancies. Cytological analysis involves processing and microscopic examination of specimens obtained from Fine Needle Aspirates (FNA) and fluid aspirates. Histological analysis involves processing and microscopic examination of tissues obtained from open surgical procedures or by Core Biopsy. In addition to standard microscopy, we perform special tests including receptor testing (eg estrogen and herceptin receptors for breast cancer). PAP smear test analyses are also performed.

Toxicology:
Urine Toxicology Screen: Cocaine, metamphetamines, cannabinoids, Amphetamines, and Morphine
Blood Toxicology Screen: Alcohol, Salicilates, Paracetamol
